Healthcare
Our healthcare system is broken. It doesn’t provide affordable healthcare. It's over federalized, and over bureaucratized. Only a small portion of patient spending goes to doctors, nurses, and actual medical care. My dog got spade for $300. A similar surgery on human would cost 100 to 200 times more money in spite of limited functional difference, the medical billing would have been incomprehensible and the hospital would have been unable to give an accurate up front cost.
State Rights
Our federal government has become too large and assumed too many roles and responsibilities. While many good people work there, it is too large to have effective accountability for poor decision making or productivity. Bureaucratic agencies often pursue their own agendas, inspired by liberal college indoctrination, without accountability to either congress, courts, or the president.
Agriculture
In many regards agriculture is the last stand of American doers. Unfortunately, the number of farms is falling. It is no longer a family business, big business is taking over, and 80% of US beef processing is done by just four companies. Even as consumer food prices are at all time highs, grain prices are at all time lows and our farmers are struggling. Beef stocks are also at all time lows. Americas largest pork processing company is owned by the Chinese and America’s second largest beef processor is owned by a Brazilian company.
Financial Resposibility
Our nations financial path is unsustainable. Difficult decisions lie ahead of us.
Second Amendment
I staunchly support second amendment rights, gun ownership, private sales, policing, and justice for the victims of crime.
Business Climate
Small and medium sized businesses are the future of our communities. We need better tax structures to promote capital investment in manufacturing, primary metals, research and development. Environmental regulations need rightsized to support and empower manufacturing of all types and foreign manufacturers must be held to the same stringent standards that US manufacturing is lest our business’ continue closing and moving over seas. Tax structures need to empower independent ownership and the reduction of unsustainable levels of personal and business debt.
Manufacturing
American manufacturing must be revitalized. Our national security demands it. Difficult choices lie ahead. Our country needs leadership with expertise in business and manufacturing. Primary metals, steel, aluminum, and copper manufacturing assets must be rebuilt. We must remaster fields we pioneered such as microchips and electronics. Tax structures and federal regulations and suffocate manufacturing need changed.
Term Limits
I support term limits for the US Senate. I pledge not to run for more than 4 terms.
