In many regards agriculture is the last stand of American doers. Unfortunately, the number of farms is falling. It is no longer a family business, big business is taking over, and 80% of US beef processing is done by just four companies. Even as consumer food prices are at all time highs, grain prices are at all time lows and our farmers are struggling. Beef herds are at all time low's and America's ranchers are finding it increasingly difficult to provide for their fellow citizens. America's largest pork processing company is owned by a Chinese company and America’s largest beef processor is owned by a Brazilian company.

American manufacturing must be revitalized. Our national security demands it. Difficult choices lie ahead. Our country needs leadership with expertise in business and manufacturing. Manufacturing assets in primary metals, such as steel, aluminum, and copper, must be rebuilt. We must remaster fields we pioneered such as microchips and electronics. Tax structures and federal regulations suffocate manufacturing and need to be changed. 

Skilled trades are the backbone of any great nation. In America the skilled trades have been allowed to languish. Our country must re-embrace and rebuild our ability to make and do. Our citizens must embrace the skills known to our fathers and add new ones. Educational emphasis must be refocused to meet the needs of our nation and provide the jobs our people need to build their families.

Our healthcare system is broken. It doesn’t provide affordable healthcare. It's over complicated, and over bureaucratized. Only a small portion of patient spending goes to doctors, nurses, and actual medical care. Medical bills are incomprehensible, providers are unable to give accurate quotes upfront. We all recognize the inherent unfairness in the system and wish for something different. Something that decent hard working people can understand and navigate and where people can retain the dignity of paying for their own needs without the fear of bankruptcy or lack of care when they are at there most vulnerable. 

Our federal government has become too large and assumed too many roles and responsibilities. While many good people work there, it is too large to have effective accountability for poor decision making or productivity. Bureaucratic agencies often pursue their own agendas, inspired by liberal college indoctrination, without accountability to either Congress, courts, or the President.

Our nation's financial path is unsustainable. Difficult decisions lie ahead of us.

I staunchly support second amendment rights, gun ownership, private sales, and justice for the victims of crime. 

Small and medium sized businesses are the future of our communities. We need better regulatory and tax structures to promote investment in housing, manufacturing, primary metals, research and development. Environmental regulations need rightsized to support and empower growth of all types. Foreign manufacturers must be held to the same stringent standards as US manufacturing or else our last few manufacturers will continue closing and moving overseas. Tax structures need to empower independent ownership and the reduction of unsustainable levels of personal and business debt.

The cost of vehicles is a problem for all of us and a key driver of inflation. Farmers, ranchers, loggers, and contractors cannot provide the goods and services we need if an F250 costs $100,000. We can cut costs in half. We can save buyers $25,000 to $50,000. Expensive vehicles choke family farms and small businesses. The insurance costs ruin family finances and prevent young people from launching. They take money from housing, education, groceries, retirement, medical care, and leisure. We can fix this.

I pledge not to run for reelection to the Senate if I am over 65.
